John Van Fleet’s first award came on June 1st, 1984, when he was handed a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the Pratt Institute School of Arts and Design. He has been an active artist in the comic industry since 1982, when he did the contents page art for DARKSTORM ILLUSTRATED ADVENTURE series #1. In the following years he has done interior art and covers for numerous comics, including: TYPHOID (1995), written by Ann Nocenti, BATMAN: THE CHALICE (1999) and BATMAN: THE ANKH (2001), both written by Chuck Dixon. You can also see John’s work in magazines, on magazine covers, on posters, cards, and on book covers such as CLAN NOVEL: GANGREL, and collected in the art book THE ART OF JOHN VAN FLEET.

After the Joker shot and crippled Batgirl (Barbera Gordon), ending her career she retreated to the Gotham Clock Tower and became the Oracle. Now wheelchair-bound she became the eyes and ears of Gothams Super Vigilantes.
